Here is an example of one of our sand ceremonies. Before the ceremony, we collect a few rocks from the wedding site to place at the bottom of the glass container you will pour into.

Your Minister States:

“The foundation of your marriage is represented here today by these sacred rocks from the ages.  They are the foundation of the love that Bride and Groom formed so many years ago. Your relationship is symbolized through the pouring of these two individual containers of sand; one, representing you, Bride and all that you were, all that you are, and all that you will ever be, and the other representing you, Groom, and all that you were and all that you are, and all that you will ever be. Each one holds its own unique beauty, strength, and character. They can stand on their own and be whole, without the need of anything else. When the two are blended together they represent an entirely new and extraordinary love relationship. Each grain of sand brings to the mixture a lasting beauty that forever enriches the combination.”

The Bride and Groom pick up sand containers
“As you each hold your sand the separate containers of sand they represent your lives to this moment; individual and unique. As you now combine your sand together, your lives also join together as one. You may now blend the sand together symbolizing the uniting of the Bride and Groom into one. The life that each of you have experienced until now, individually, will hereafter be inseparably united, for the two shall become one. Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage be.”

Sand Ceremonies

This is one of our favorite wedding ceremony additions.  Our couple simply provide two glass containers for their individual sand and one container to pour them into. We often recommend collecting the sand along the way to your wedding adventure, perhaps from your hometown or any other special places you may have been.

The two containers represent each of you and your lives as separate beings and the one you pour into together represents the coming together of your lives. As you pour your sands together, it is we understood that the individual gains of sand cannot ever be separated again back to their individual containers. So shall your marriage also be, together, forever as one.

Sand Ceremonies require two smaller containers from which to pour your individual sand and one container to pour it into as well as two different colors of sand. We collect rocks from your wedding site to represent the foundation of your marriage. You may provide your own or we can provide it for you for an additional fee of $50.00 including packaging to insure it makes it back to your home safely.
